After moving to beautiful Kaslo in October 2015, I’m thrilled to have the chance to work with the wonderful Kuimba choir, first as co-director with founder Karen Behn from January to June 2016, and now as solo choir director for the 2016/17 season.
I’ve spent a lot of years with music in a variety of contexts, from intensive immersion in various choirs and BC honour choir / honour vocal jazz groups in high school through a BMus at UVic (voice, piano, and music history), and an MA in Music at the University of Alberta (choral conducting, musicology).
During that time, I’ve studied voice with some great vocal teachers including Judith Dowling, Susan Young, Eva Bostrand, and Arlene McIntyre, and performed as a chorister and soloist with some amazing choirs including the UVic Chamber Singers, CapriCCio Vocal Ensemble, the U of A Madrigal Singers, Ensemble de la Rue, Pro Coro Canada, vox humana, and Raincoast Voices.
I’ve conducted concerts with the choir of St John the Divine in Victoria, BC, with Terpsichore vocal ensemble, and with vox humana. I’ve also studied vocal improvisation with Rhiannon, and taught a variety of workshops in group vocal improv.
I write and perform my own music, with piano/keyboard and looping pedal. You can find out more about me on my website.
I love living in Kaslo, and am currently accepting new students for voice, piano, ear training and music theory, or songwriting. Get in touch with me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by phone at 250-353-3284 if you’re interested!
