OUTLINE FOR THE WEEK

Outline for the week

This week long intensive invites singers of all abilities to come together to sing fun and challenging choral music in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Risk taking, experimentation and improvisation are all part of the vocal experience. A varied and eclectic repertoire is always a key feature of the week.

The workshop always aims to achieve a balanced experience: building musical confidence, choral skills and vocal techniques, as well as encouraging new friendships and collaborations, and enjoying some holiday time. Most afternoons and evenings are free so you can relax and just enjoy being in Alpine Nirvana! The week concludes with a community concert and celebration.

Singers of all abilities are welcome to spend time in this beautiful setting enjoying nature, and meeting new people. Please realize that if you do not read music or have little singing experience the week will be especially challenging; our more experienced singers are always helpful and will  do their best to bring you along. The instructors and  accompanist are also available to go over a tricky part or play your line for you. We also try to make at least some of the songs available ahead of time so you can get a jump start on practising!

The week revolves around our central rehearsal space at St. Andrew’s United Church, one of Kaslo’s unique heritage buildings and in the heart of Kaslo village. It is one block away from shopping, restaurants, B&B’s, Inns and the Kaslo Hotel and Motel. The beach is only 2 blocks away in any direction and the Kaslo River Trail begins right across the street.
